How it works

We start by finding where the water actually comes from and where it wants to go, which is rarely where the puddle is. A French drain is a perforated pipe in a gravel trench wrapped in filter fabric, and the fabric is the part cheap installs skip. Without it, soil works into the gravel within a couple of seasons and the drain quietly stops draining while looking perfectly fine from the surface. We tie downspouts into the system where it makes sense, set catch basins in the low spots, and put the sod and beds back so the only thing you notice is that the puddle is gone.
